It is estimated that there are trillions and trillions of bacteria, fungi and other microbes existing on earth. Only a fraction of these microorganisms have been identified and scientifically documented.
The role of these microorganisms in crop failures, human welfare or diseases in man and domestic animals have been studied since the dawn of human civilization. A large number of microbes are useful in agriculture, medicine and other industrial products. The study of metagenomics indicate the extraordinary diversity in population of microbes considered to be the future potential gene resources, many of which are potentially dreadful pathogens also.
This symposium seeks to address these new possibilities and potentialities of utilizing these vast unknown as well as known organisms operative in the fields of agriculture, human and animal health; their diverse industrial uses and their utilization for environmental protection.
Emphasis would be given to the management of diseases and biotechnological inputs for the production of newer and ecologically safer biocides, biofertilizers and bioremediation of microbial xenobiotic and heavy metal pollution problems. The technical sessions will be covering the beneficial effects of fungi and other microbes for plant and human affairs as well as for understanding the harmful effects caused by microbes to crops and humans and their possible management.
The Scientific Programme will be scheduled as below :
